Abstract
Multiple hereditary exostosis is a hereditary disorder characterized by the presence of multiple cartilagenous and bony exostosis.
Aknthropometric data of 16 patients with hereditary multiple exostosis are studied of frequency of exostosis at the metaphyseal regions of the long bones and is various deformities.
The ratio of males to females affected is about 6:4 and familial incidence 53%.
In distribution of exostosis, distal femoral and proximal tibial metaphysis is most common. All roentgenograms were examined for the presence or absence of deformities: coxa valga, tibia valga, obliquity of the articular surface and subchondral
bone of
the distal tibial epiphysis, and obliquity of the superior articular surface of the talus in lower extremities; relative shortening of ulna, ulnar deviaion of wrist, and ulnarward carpal slip in upper extremities.
In our 4 operative cases, one case operated with ulna lengthening by artificial bone graft is relatively satisfactory and two cases with excision of exostosis in fibula head are complicated by incomplete peroneal nerve palsy.
